HomeMy WebLinkAbout2241 Changing City Attorney Position from Elective to AppointiveORDINANCE NO. 2Z~ AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A POSITION OF CITY AT- TORNEY AS APPOINTIVE RATHER THAN ELECTIVE; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE FOR SUCH CHANGE; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS OR- DINANCE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOI,~]SEND, IN REGULAR SESSION ASSEMBLED, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Commencing with the expiration of the present term of office, on January 1, 1992, the position of City Attorney shall be made appointive, as provided by RCW 35.24.020, as now or here- after amended. Section 2. The City Attorney shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to the approval by majority vote of the City Council, as provided by RCW 35.24.020, as now or hereafter amended. Section 3. The duties of the Citv Attorney shall be as set forth in RCW 35.24.110, as now or hereafter amended, and such other duties as provided for by Ordinance of the City. Section 4. The compensation for the office of City Attorney shall be as set by Ordinance. Section 5. This Ordinance shall take effect upon its passage, approval and publication in the form and manner orovided by law. Read for the first, second and third times, passed by the City Council for the City of Port Townsend and signed by the Mayor of the City on ;~ -7' , 1991.
