RESOLUTION No. 06-017
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT TO THE
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONTRACT WITH CARLSON ARCHITECTS TO
PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND TO DEVELOP AND
IMPLEMENT A COMMUNITY ARTS FUNCTIONAL PLAN
WHEREAS, City Council adopted Ordinance 2866 on August 9, 2004, establishing a 1 %
for the Arts Program; and
WHEREAS, implementation of the program requires policies that include input from all
the government and public stakeholders; and
WHEREAS, implementation of the program also requires examination of all current City
functional plans that impact the acceptance, funding, placement and removal of public art; and
WHEREAS, the City does not have sufficient staff or expertise to accomplish this task;
and
WHEREAS, the Consultant has been selected from the City's Professional Services
Roster and has completed Phase I ofthe Community Arts Functional Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City finds that Carlson Architects is qualified to perform the services
required.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend that the City Manager is hereby authorized to sign an amendment to the professional
services agreement with Carlson Architects to develop and implement a Community Arts
Functional Plan.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this seventh day of August 2006.
