Meeting Minutes
July 2, 2012, 1:30—3:30, Upstairs Meeting Room, City Hall
Present: Stan Rubin, Nancy Rody, Erin Fristad, Kris Morris, Linda Okazaki, Rosalind Russell, Dan
Groussman (minutes)
Chair's Report:SRreminded the group of our new meeting time: 2-4 on the first Wednesday of each
month,on 3`d floor of City Hall in 3`d floor conference room.
SR presented the Frank Vane plaque info as presented to council with their change from "Wave Viewing
Gallery" to the"Wave Gazing Gallery."
LO and EF reported that the Safir exhibit had wonderful photos of high artistic merit. EF also visited the
Community Boat project and reported favorably.
Minutes: moved for approval by KM and 2nd by NR, unanimous approval.
Treasurer's report:LO reports$4,250 unallocated as of today—she is hopeful we will have some
applications for review in the near future. SR suggested we put a notice out onbareboards to solicit
more applications for the 2012 year.
Public Art:KM said the announcement was delayed in the Leader but the report was favorable. The PDN
got it out early. KM thanked DG and SRfor their efforts to get the word out to the local galleries,
bareboards and KTPZ. KM said there were some links dead on the web site that have been recently
fixed. KM fielded questions by the commissioners about the call process and in response to some
community questions regarding what specifically is desired for the art work. KM said the initial process
is just to get the artists chosen and then they will be given a tour and more specifics. NR said she was
glad we were supporting more of the visual arts when we normally fund the performing arts.
New Business: DG presented the Jacob Kohn issue, KM asked for the information be forwarded to her
and we will work together to see if they have a home in PT.
SR says he is still working on the issue regarding the competition for the city logo and will report back.
There is a chance we will need to change October's meeting to Monday to accommodate
commissioners' schedules—we will revisit this matter at a later date.
