City Lake Outlet Pipeline Replacement
RESOLUTION NO. 12-047
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPROVE AND SIGN ALL DOCUMENTS
RELATED TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE CITY LAKE OUTLET PIPELINE
REPLACEMENT PHASE 2—OUTLET PIPE AND CONTROL STRUCTURE WITHIN
THE AVAILABLE FUNDING AND APPROVED BUDGET FOR THE PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the importance of maintenance and
improvements to the water distribution system and has approved the budget for those
improvements through the 2012 Capital hnprovement Projects; and
WHEREAS,the City Lake Outlet Pipeline is an essential part of the City's drinking
water transmission line system and the City Council recognizes the importance of making timely
and appropriate repairs; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council to move forward with this project to
construction in the most expedient manner; and
WHEREAS, the City staff and project consultants have completed design and
engineering of the City Lake Outlet Pipeline Replacement Phase 2—Outlet Pipe and Control
Structure; and
WHEREAS, the City has solicited bids for construction services in conformance with
City and State public works bid laws in a fair and timely fashion; and
WHEREAS, Strider Construction Co., Inc. was the low bidder at $2,071,404.39 and
meets the bidder qualifications required; and
WHEREAS,the City Council must authorize the awarding of bids for any project over
$20,000 and may delegate and authorize the City Manager to award the contract;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend that the City Manager is hereby authorized to sign all necessary documents and
contracts for the City Lake Outlet Pipeline Replacement Phase 2—Outlet Pipe and Control
Structure.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 17th day of December 2012. f
