RESOLUTION NO. 06-009
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO TAKE THE
NECESSARY ACTIONS AND SIGN THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS TO
ACQUIRE LOTS 3 AND 5, BLOCK 47, PETTYGROVE'S 2ND ADDITION, FROM
JEFFERSON COUNTY
WHEREAS, Jefferson County owns Block 47, Pettygrove's 2nd Addition and has
determined this parcel surplus to County needs and is putting the parcel up for sale; and
WHEREAS, lots 3 and 5, Block 47 are separated from the remainder of Block 47
by Redwood/Cherry Street and lie adjacent to the existing City Shops; and
WHEREAS, ownership oflots 3 and 5, Block 47, Pettygrove's 2nd Addition by
the City would preclude potential claims from a future landowner concerning possible
encroachments by City operations onto these lots; and
WHEREAS, the City staff and County Treasurer have agreed to a tentative price
of $8202 for the two lots and this is also the value determined by the County Assessor for
these lots; and
WHEREAS, funding for such an acquisition would come from the City Utility
Fund and the property would become an asset ofthe Utility Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Port Townsend that the City Manager is hereby authorized to take the necessary actions
and sign the necessary documents to complete the purchase oflots 3 and 5, Block 47,
Pettygrove's 2nd Addition from Jefferson County.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular
meeting thereof, held this seventeenth day of April 2006.
