RESOLU~ION NO. 06-004
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY CO$CIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE Cn;Y MANAGER TO SIGN A GRANT AGREEMENT
WITH THE WASHINGTON STATE TRAN$PORTA TION IMPROVEMENT BOARD FOR THE
DISCOVERY ROAD SIDEWALK PROJECfl', (HASTINGS AVENUE TO SHERIDAN STREET),
AND TO SIGN ALL NECESSARY DOCUl\1ENTS AND CONTRACTS FOR THE DESIGN AND
CONSTRUCTION OF THIS PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend has received a grant from the Washington State
Transportation Improvement Board for the Discovery Road Sidewalk Project, Hastings Avenue to
Sheridan Street; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager must sign a grant agreement with the Washington State
Transportation Improvement Board in order to o"ligate these funds for the design and construction of the
Discovery Road Sidewalk Project; and
WHEREAS, this project has been idenlified on the adopted 6 year Transportation Improvement
Plan, 2006-201 1 and on the City's 2006 CIP; anid
WHEREAS, the project was designated as a priority project for pedestrian improvements in the
Port Townsend Non-Motorized Transportation Plan linking the existing sidewalk at Discovery Road and
Hastings A venue to the existing sidewalk at Sheridan Street thereby connecting neighborhoods with the
Grant Street School; and
WHEREAS, the City Council must aullhorize the City Manager to sign all necessary documents
and contracts for design and construction of capital projects.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend
that the City Manger is hereby authorized to sigp a grant agreement with the Washington State
Transportation Improvement Board and to sign !all necessary documents and contracts for the design and
construction ofthe Discovery Road Sidewalk, IiIastings Avenue to Sheridan Street Project, within available
funding.
ADOPTED by the City Council oftheiCity of Port Townsend at a regular meeting thereof, held
this twenty-first day of February, 2006.
