HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-041 Interim implementation of JeffCo/PT emergemcy management plan RESOL TION NO. 05-041 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY CO NClL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, IMPLEMENTING ON N INTERIM BASIS THE JEFFERSON COUNTY- CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PLAN i WHEREAS, Chapter 38.52.070 RCW t1irects each political subdivision of the State of Washington to establish a local organization f<l>r emergency management, and to develop a plan as to how the jurisdiction will carry out a coordinat~d program of disaster mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery; and WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Dep~ent of Emergency Management was established for that purpose; and WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Emergency Management Plan was developed by the Jefferson County Department of Emergency Managemept in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 38.52.070 RCW; and WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Deptrtment of Emergency Management is responsible for maintaining currency of the Emergency Mana$ement Plan and program to assure effective implementation in an emergency, and will ma1j:e those modifications as needed to component parts of the plan; and ' WHEREAS, the City undertook a progtam in partnership with the county to develop an all hazard mitigation plan and a separate emergency resPfmse plan. The City took the lead to develop the all hazard plan and the county took the lead to develop t4e emergency response plan. Both plans provide for a cooperative countywide coordination effort. The later plan provides for a county wide emergency response to emergency situations; and WHEREAS, Jefferson County approve~ the Emergency Management Plan by Resolution 60-05 (approved September 19, 2005); NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOljVED, that effective immediately, upon an interim basis pending final review and action by the Council after General Government Committee review, the Jefferson County and City of Port Townsend J1,mergency Management Plan (May 2005) is hereby approved and adopted by the City Council oft/1e City of Port Townsend as the current emergency operation plan, replacing any previons plan. i i BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that jhe plan or plan summary shall be distributed as determined appropriate by the City Manager t'!> all City Offices and Departments, and that they be encouraged to become familiar with the contents and be prepared to discharge their special emergency duties defined in the plan.
