A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COfCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZIN THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
AGREEMENTS WITH NON-PROFIT RGANIZATIONS THAT PROVIDE FOR CITY
RECEIPT OF PRIVATE DONATI NS DESIGNATED FOR CITY PURPOSES

WHEREAS, the City Council finds lit desirable to work cooperatively with non-profit
organizations that seek to augment City ~ding with grants and private donations in order to
achieve goals and objectives determined br the City; and
I
WHEREAS, this cooperation can t~e the form of an agreement between the City and
the non-profit organization providing am chanism for private citizens and organizations to
make tax deductible donations through a on-profit organization that are turned over to the
City, and which are separately accounted or by the City, and which will only be used for
programs or purposes approved by the Ci ; and
WHEREAS, working cooperatively with on-profit organizations provides a public benefit by
allowing and encouraging private gifts for City purposes and uses; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wish s to avail the City of Port Townsend of the benefits
that may accrue from allowing citizens to ontribute to such funds,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RE~OL VED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend that the City Manager is autho~zed to enter into donor agreements with non-profit
organizations, such as the Port Townsend rublic Library Foundation, that provide for the City
to receipt and account for contributions frllm such organizations, and which provide that such
,
contributions will be spent on purposes and uses approved by the City Council either though
the approved annual budget, contract aWm[d for project(s), or which are consistent with
approved Council approved plans and pol. cies
ADOPTED by the City Council of e City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this nineteenth day of Septe ber, 2005.
