A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL
COOPERATIVE PURCHASING AGREEMENT WITH HOUSTON-GALVESTON
AREA COUNCIL (HGAC)
WHEREAS, Chapter 39.34 RCW permits public agencies to execute cooperative
purchasing agreements; and
WHEREAS,these purchasing agreements allow government agencies to share favorable
contracts with each other without replicating the bidding process (piggy-backing); and
WHEREAS, Purchasing Cooperatives increase the buying power. of each government
agency; and
WHEREAS, HGAC is a nonprofit organization formed for the mutual benefit of
government agencies and used by other entities throughout Washington State.
WHEREAS, with this Interlocal Cooperative Purchasing Agreement, the City may,but is
not required to, take advantage of this service in the future for other purchases that might not be
available on State or other open contracts that the City is authorized to use.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend that the City Manager is hereby authorized to sign an Interlocal Purchasing Agreement
with Houston-Galveston Area Council
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof,held this 15th day of October 2012.
