AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
TOWNSEND AMENDING SECTIONS 2.36.070, 2.36.080, 2.40.010 AND
2.40.020 OF THE PORT TOWNSEND MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO
ADOPTION OF RULES BY THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, IN REGULAR SESSION
ASSEMBLED, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 2.36.070 of the Port Townsend Municipal Code is hereby amended to read
as follows:
2.36.070 Civil service system adopted, The civil service system set forth in Chapter -1-3

Section 2. Section 2.36.080 of the Port Townsend Municipal Code is hereby amended to read
as follows:
2.36.080 Civil Service Commission. There is hereby created pursuant to Chapter 4-3
41.12 of the Revised Code of Washington a Civil Service Commission for the Police
Department, which commission shall be composed of three members and appointed by the
Mayor. The members of such Commission shall hold office as provided in Chapter 4-3 41.12 of
the Revised Code of Washington, and shall have and exercise all powers and duties not

fc, r 19~7 41,12 of the Revised Code of Washington. In addition, the Civil Service Commission
shall have the power to adopt rules for administration and operation of the civil service system.
Section 3, Section 2.40.010 of the Port Townsend Municipal Code is hereby amended to read
as follows:
2.40.010 Civil Service system adopted, The civil Service system as set forth in Chapter

Port Townsend.
Section 4 There is hereby created pursuant Chapter
41,08 of the Revised Code of Washington, a Civil Service Commission for the Fire Department,
of which Commission shall be composed of three members and appointed by the Mayor. The
members of such Commission shall hold office as provided in said Chapter 31 cf

of the Revised Code of Washington, In addition, the Civil Service Commission shall have the

Section 5, This Ordinance shall take effect upon its passage, approval and publication in the
form and manner provided by law.
Read for the first, second and third times, passed by the City Council and approved by the
Mayor on September 21, 1992.
