Mayor Sullivan presiding. ROLL CALL Officers änd members present were as follows: Mayor Sullivan, City f\.ttorney Abraham, City Clerk Youngblood, Councilmen Swietzer, Hoglund, Ruby, Judy, Siebenbaum, Lindsey. The city clerk read a request f'rom the Union Oil Company for a iliO year extension at 25.00 per year to maintain pipe lines on certain streets in ~he city of' Port Townsend. It was the opinion of the council that the request of Union Oil Company be gré\nted. Motion carried. ;vJayor Sullivan asked the street committee to check the street in question. Councilman Hoglund reported thät he had a call from Jane Campbell of the Weli'are Dept. asking if the city \¡vould be interested in acquiring addi tional property besides the block of la nd ovmec by Mr Po:r::ter. He said that he told her that he would mention it to the council but felt that the city would not want any more property tham could be used in the f'oreseable future. He said also that jlJinne Campbell had told him that Mr Porter had gone to Port Angeles to get an appraise~ on the block of land along side the treatment center but so far had heard nothj_ng from Mr Porter., but should by the next council ,meeting. Councilman Swietzer reported on the mee ting thèJ.t vIas held at the fire hèJ.ll to fix the price for garbage at Fort Worden. He said they arrived at a price but so far had not been able to con tac t Mr Die1. He asked for another meeting ei ther on the 23 or 24th of May, that he would contact Mr Die1 have him at the meeting and w,)uld call each counci1bman to tell them what date iti would be held. - I Councilman Judy on the terrace fountain, saying the mission was accomplished, the f'ountain had been drained and repainted. Mayor Sullivan complimented Councilman Judy and Councilman Swietz~!T' for a job well done. City;Attormey Abraham said that Ivlary Lou Green Chairman of' the planning, commission hèJ.d asked heim to report f'or her about adopting a building code and fire prevention code. He said that he had met with a ommittee oi.~ the planning commission änd they had acquired several copies of the latest addition of the uniform building code and uniform f'ire prevention code, and had given copies to the chairman of' the building commi ttee and the chairman of the f'ire and light comrnittee, and would like to have the comdttegs look them ov:er to see what type ordinance should be J adopted. Councilman Ruby said thèJ.t the portion of' 57th street where the new water system was going sho'ld be widened about ten feet and the power poles should be m~ed back -and also some property owners fences, at the present it is only a one way street. Mayor Sullivan refer~ed the sug';estion to the Street Supt. and the City Engineer.
