AN ORDINANCE REGARDING DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION CONTAINED IN BUSINESS LICENSE APPLICATIONS AND RETURNS AMENDING CHAPTER 5.04 OF THE PORT TOWNSEND MUNICIPAL CODE BY AMENDING SECTION 5.04.340 OF THE PORT TOWNSEND MUNICIPAL CODE TO MAKE IT LAWFUL TO ALLOW DISCLOSURE OF SUCH INFORMATION TO ANY DULY COMMISSIONED FEDERAL, STATE OR LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENT UPON CERTIFICATION THAT SUCH INFORMATION IS REQUIRED AS PART OF A CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION. Section 1. Section 5.04.030 Of Chapter 5.04 of the Port Townsend Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: 5.04.340 Applications and Returns Confidential. The applications and returns made · to the Clerk pursuant to this chapter shall not be made public, nor shall they be subject to the inspection of any person except the Mayor, City Attorney, City Clerk or his the Clerk's authorized agent, r, nd members of the City Council, the Chief of Police and the Chief of Police's authorized agents, and any Federal, State or local duly commissioned law enforcement agent upon certification that such information is required as part of a criminal investigation; and it is unlawful for any person to make public or to inform any other person as to the contents of any information contained in or to permit in spection of any application or returns except as :.n t~3 3z¢'Sc, n n'at~c,~zcd required by an ongoing criminal investigation or prosecution or as otherwise authorized by this section. Section 2. This ordinance shall become effective five days after passage and publication as provided by law.
