AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO ACCRUAL OF ANNUAL
VACATION FOR CITY EMPLOYEES BY AMENDING
ORDINANCE NO. 1673 AS AMENDED AND SECTIONS
2.04.020 AND 2.64.030 OF THE PORT TOWNSEND
MUNICIPAL CODE AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE
THE CITY COL~CiL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, IN REGULAR SESSION
ASSEMBLED, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 2 of Ordinance No. 1673 as amended by Ordinance
No. 1835 and Section 2.64.020 of the Port Townsend Municipal Code
is here and hereby amended to read as follows:
"2.64.020 Vacation allowance. (Re~H}am-~m~l~~-~he-~
Annual. vacation time willbeallowed each employee onthe following
b~sis for employees working a forty (40% hour per Week shift:
(a.~ Eighty (80) hours for the first full year of service.
(b) Ten (.10) hours per month for each month ofservice, after
twelwe (12% months of service until employed by the city for nine
f9~.years.
(c) Fourteen (14% hours per month, for each month of service
after nine ¢9~ years.of service until employed bv the city for
~ineteen (19) years.
(d~ Seventeen (17% hours per month foreach month of service
after nineteen (19~ years of service.
Ann~.al vacation time will beallowed each employee on the followin~
b~sis for employees working a thirty-five (35% hourper week shift~
(a) Seventy (70% hours for the first full year of service.

Annual.vacation. time will be:allowed each,employee on the follOwina

schedule:

Section 2. Section 3 of Ordinance No. 1673 as amended by ordinance
no. 1998 and Section 2.64,030 of the Port Townsend Municipal Code
is here and hereby further amended to read as follows:
"2,,64~030 Vacation accrual~-Annuai leave.
A, Each employee shall be entitled to accrue vacation leave

ho,ur.per week schedule, .up to.210 hours if working a thirty-five

B Each employee's anniversary date for calc~ation of vacation
accrual shall be twelve months after entering the fuli-timeservice
of the (em~}e~e~s) city.
C. Ail accumulated annual leave is allowed when employee
leaves employer's employment for any reason. Accumulated leave
means vacation due and unused after
~e~e~--~he~ee~) completion of the first year of eligible
D. Part-time employees shall accumulate (e~e-e*~h~-he~-~ey)
eighthours vacation (Base~-e~) for each one hundred seventy-three
~ hours of work
E. An employee must complete one year in status eligible for
annual leave accrual prior to being eligible to take annual leave.

F. No probationary employee shall receive vacation pay if his
or her employment expires before the completion of one full year of
CQn~inuous employment.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage,
approval, and publication in the form and manner provided by law.
Read for the first, second, and third times, passed by the
Council and approved by the Mayor on this 3rd day of May, 1993.
