RESOLUTION #05-032
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN CHANGE ORDERS TO THE CITY
HALL IMPROVEMENTS AND ANNEX ADDITION CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT
FOR THE SUPPLEMENTAL BUDGET TO COMPLETE CERTAIN EXTERIOR AND
INTERIOR WORK
WHEREAS, the City Council appropriated funds in the 2005 Capital Improvement
Program for City Hall Improvements and Annex Addition Project; and
WHEREAS, City staff recommends authorization for a change order to the construction
project for the City Hall Improvements and Annex Addition Project that would
. address unforeseen conditions encountered once the roof was removed, including, parapet
mortar repair, additional brick course, modification to seismic bracing, and rerouting of
mechanical and electrical systems;
. allow completion of interior and exterior work to realize savings while the contractor is
on site instead of contracting separately with a new contractor, including
· additional fire alarms;
· parapet, roof changes;
· structural changes;
· extra conduit runs;
in an amount, including contingency, of $285,000; and
WHEREAS, it is advantageous to undertake these items at this time while construction is
underway in order to avoid costly demolition, mobilization and contracting with a new contractor at
a later date; and
WHEREAS, delegation of supplemental budget to fund this addition to the scope of the
original contract is appropriate.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend that the City Manager is hereby authorized to sign all appropriate change orders to the
construction contract for the City Hall Improvements and Annex Addition Project that would
· address unforeseen conditions encountered once the roof was removed, including, parapet
mortar repair, additional brick course, modification to seismic bracing, and rerouting of
mechanical and electrical systems;
· allow completion of interior and exterior work to realize savings while the contractor is
on site instead of contracting separately with a new contractor, including
· additional fire alarms;
· parapet, roof changes;
· structural changes;
· extra conduit runs.

in an amount, including contingency, of $285,000, with the same to be included in a
supplementary budget.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this twenty-second day of August, 2005.
