RESOLUTION NO. 05-030
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN A GRANT AGREEMENT
WITH THE WASHINGTON STATE TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT BOARD FOR THE
DISCOVERY ROAD SIDEWALK, SHERIDAN STREET TO SHERMAN STREET PROJECT,
AND TO SIGN ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS AND CONTRACTS FOR THE DESIGN AND
CONSTRUCTION OF THIS PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend has received a grant from the Washington State
Transportation Improvement Board for the Discovery Road Sidewalk, Sheridan Street to Sherman Street
Project; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager must sign a grant agreement with the Washington State
Transportation Improvement Board in order to obligate these funds for the design and construction of the
Discovery Road Sidewalk Project; and
WHEREAS, this project has been identified through the adopted 6 year Transportation
Improvement Plan, 2006-2011; and
WHEREAS, the project was designated as a priority project for pedestrian improvements by the
adopted City of Port Townsend Non-Motorized Transportation Plan linking the existing sidewalk at
Sheridan Street to the existing sidewalk at Sherman Street thereby connecting neighborhoods with the
Grant Street School; and
WHEREAS, the City Council must authorize the City Manager to sign all necessary documents
and contracts for design and construction of capital projects; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council to move forward with this project from design to
construction in the most expedient manner,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend
that the City Manger is hereby authorized to sign a grant agreement with the Washington State
Transportation Improvement Board and to sign all necessary documents and contracts for the deign and
construction of the Discovery Road Sidewalk, Sheridan to Sherman Street Project, within available
funding.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting thereof, held
this 1st day of August, 2005.
