RESOLUTION #05-024
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO BID, AWARD AND EXECUTE A SMALL
WORKS CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR THE COMPLETION OF THE 35TH
STREET WATER LINE PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City Council appropriated funds in the 2005 Capital Improvement
Program for Water Main Replacements and Upgrades; and
WHEREAS, the city staff has determined that the construction of the 35th Street Water
Line Project is a priority project to provide system looping and improve fire flows; and
WHEREAS, the City is in the process of bidding this project as a Small Works construction
contract in accordance with state and city bidding procedures; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager may award and execute a Small Works construction
contract with authorization from Council; and
WHEREAS, delegation of bid award and contract execution is appropriate.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend that the City Manager is hereby authorized to award the contract for the 35th Street
Water Line project to the lowest responsible, responsive bidder(s), and to take all necessary and
proper steps to carry out the contract, including approving appropriate change orders that do not
exceed the amount authorized by Council in the 2005 budget.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this sixth day of June, 2005.
