RESOLUTION #05-023
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PORT TOWNSEND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO AWARD AND
EXECUTE A SMALL WORKS CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR THE
COMPLETION OF THE 12TH STREET PAVING PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City Council appropriated funds in the 2005 Streets Operations and
Maintenance, Capital Improvements Fund for street improvements and overlays; and
WHEREAS, the city staff has determined that the construction of the 12th Street Paving
Project is a priority project to complete the improvements that were constructed in 2003 and
2004 by the City and private developers; and
WHEREAS, the City has completed the bidding of a Small Works construction contract in
accordance with state and city bidding procedures; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager may award and execute a Small Works construction
contract with authorization from Council; and
WHEREAS, delegation of bid award and contract execution is appropriate.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend that the City Manager is hereby authorized to award the contract for the 12th Street
Paving project to the lowest responsible, responsive bidder(s), and to take all necessary and
proper steps to carry out the contract, including approving appropriate change orders that do not
exceed the amount previously authorized by Council for this project in the approved budget.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this sixth day of June, 2005.
