HomeMy WebLinkAbout042312 CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL BUSINESS MEETING OF APRIL 23, 2012 CALL TO ORDER AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The City Council of the City of Port Townsend met in special session the twenty-third day of April 2012, in City Council Chambers, 540 Water Street. The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Mayor David King. ROLL CALL Councilmembers present at roll call were Robert Gray, David King, Catharine Robinson, Michelle Sandoval, and Deborah Stinson with Kris Nelson, and Mark Welch excused. Staff members present were City Manager David Timmons, City Attorney John Watts, Police Chief Conner Daily, and City Clerk Pam Kolacy. SPECIAL BUSINESS Resolution 12-019, authorizing the City Manager to Execute a Collective Bargaining Agreement with Local Union No. 589 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters for Police Department Employees Effective January 1, 2012 Through December 31, 2014 Mayor King noted that an executive session would be held following conclusion of the special business and that no action would be taken following the executive session. City Manager Timmons reviewed the resolution, stated that negotiations with the Police Union were productive and noted that there would be no cost of living increase in 2012 for members of the Police bargaining unit. There was brief discussion by the Council. It was noted that an incorrect Resolution number appeared on the agenda (12-010). It was later confirmed that the correct Resolution number is 12-019. Motion: Michelle Sandoval moved to approve Resolution 12-019 authorizing the City Manager to Execute a Collective Bargaining Agreement with Local Union No. 589 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters for Police Department Employees Effective January 1, 2012 Through December 31, 2014. Catharine Robinson seconded. Vote: motion carried unanimously, 5-0 by voice vote. EXECUTIVE SESSION - LITIGATION Mayor King stated the Council would go into executive session at 5:10 p.m. City City Council Special Business Meeting April 23, 2012 Page 1 of 2 Attorney Watts stated the session was regarding litigation and would last about 45 minutes, and there would be no action following the executive session.
