HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-018 Authorizing CM to enter into angeement with interagency committee for outdoor recreation for reimbursement of costs re: creation of urban lake wildlife corridor RESOLUTION NO. 05-018 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE INTERAGENCY COMMITTEE FOR OUTDOOR RECREATION FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE CREATION OF AN URBAN WILDLIFE CORRIDOR ON A PORTION OF THE LEVINSKI PROPERTY IN NORTHWEST PORT TOWNSEND WHEREAS, the City applied for a 50/50 cost share grant in 1996 from the Washington State Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation (lAC) to acquire property in the Winona Wetlands for an Urban Wildlife Corridor which was not funded until 2004; and WHEREAS, the lAC subsequently determined that the City purchase of the 46.76-acre Levinski Property near 49th Street was also eligible for the grant if the City agreed to a deed of right for conservation purposes; and WHEREAS, the City has determined that a 9.66-acre portion of the Levinski parcel, classified as wetlands and wetland buffer, is suitable for use as wildlife corridor; and WHEREAS, an appraisal by the Columbia Valuation Group, fnc. values the 9.66 acres at $72,500, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend that the City Manager is authorized to enter into the necessary agreements to issue the deed of right for conservation purposes with the lAC on 9.66 acres of wetlands and wetland buffer on the Levinski Property and to be reimbursed by the lAC for this acquisition.
