RESOLUTION NO. 05-011
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
SIGN AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH JEFFERSON COUNTY TO
MAKE A JOINT APPLICATION FOR A COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) FOR A HOUSING NEEDS ASSESSMENT FOR PORT
TOWNSEND AND JEFFERSON COUNTY
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend and Jefferson County must periodically
update elements of their respective Comprehensive Plans; and
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend needs to update the Housing Element of
the Port Townsend Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS, a Housing Needs Assessment is required for a meaningful and
comprehensive approach to the affordable housing issue; and
WHEREAS, a countywide Housing Needs Assessment is the most efficient and
affordable way to update both City and County plans; and
WHEREAS, additional grant funds are available to government entities entering
into ajoint application,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council ofthe City of
Port Townsend that it authorizes the City Manager to sign an lnterlocal Agreement with
Jefferson County for a joint CDBG application to fund a countywide Housing Needs
Assessment.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular
meeting thereof, held this 22nd day of February, 2005.
