RESOLUTION NO. 05-008
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY CHANGE
ORDERS WITH A CUMULATIVE MAXIMUM OF 5% OF THE BID AMOUNT OR
$188,430 PLUS ANY ADDITIONAL FUNDS RAISED BY THE JEFFERSON COUNTY
HISTORICAL SOCIETY'S (JCHS) CAPITAL CAMPAIGN FOR THE CITY HALL
AND CITY HALL ANNEX CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT WITH DA WSON
CONSTRUCTION.
WHEREAS, the City Council appropriated funds for the City Hall Reconstruction and
the City Hall Annex Construction project; and
WHEREAS the contract was awarded to Dawson Construction, Inc. of Bellingham, W A
as the lowest responsive, responsible bidder; and
WHEREAS, City Council previously approved granting the authority to the City
Manager to execute the contract, including change orders by Resolution #04-060; and
WHEREAS, Change Orders are a nonnal part of large construction projects; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager would like Council approval to award change orders; and
WHEREAS, JCHS is undertaking a capital campaign to raise funds for the Phase II
interior restoration; and
WHEREAS, additional work funded by JCHS may be added, by change order, to the
current construction contract,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Port Townsend as follows:
The City Council of the City of Port Townsend hereby authorizes the City Manager to
approve change orders with a cumulative amount not exceed 5% of the original contract award
amount for the City Hall/City Hall Annex project to Dawson Construction, Inc. of Bellingham,
Washington
In addition, the City Manager is authorized to sign change orders for additional work that
is funded by the JCHS capital campaign apart from the 5% contingency.
The City Manager will prepare regular status reports of the project, including any change
orders and present them to the City Council Finance and Budget Committee for review.
