RESOLUTION NO. 12-013
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO AWARD AND EXECUTE ALL
CONTRACTS REQUIRED FOR THE RENOVATION OF THE PORT TOWNSEND
CARNEGIE LIBRARY WITHIN THE PROJECT BUDGET.
WHEREAS, it is necessary to make appropriate seismic improvements to the historic Carnegie
Library Building to bring it up to current seismic design standards; and
WHEREAS, the City Council appropriated funds in the 2012 Capital Budget for the renovation
of the Port Townsend Carnegie Library project; and
WHEREAS, the City is in the process of awarding contracts necessary for the temporary
relocation of the Library during construction; and
WHEREAS, the City is also in the process of bidding the construction contract in accordance
with federal, state and city bidding procedures; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager may award and execute a construction contract with
authorization from Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager may negotiate and award a Professional Services Agreement
with authorization from Council; and
WHEREAS, delegation of bid award and contract execution is appropriate;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend
as follows:
1. The City Council of the City of Port Townsend hereby authorizes the City Manager to
award the contract for the Port Townsend Library Renovation project to the lowest responsible,
responsive bidder(s), and to take all necessary and proper steps to carry out the contract,
including approving appropriate change orders that do not exceed the amount previously
authorized by Council for this project in the approved budget.
2. The City Council of the City of Port Townsend authorizes the City Manager to negotiate
and execute any Professional Services Agreements, Services Agreements, or other contracts
required for the completion of the Port Townsend Library Renovation project within the
approved project budget.

ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 19t" day of March 2012.
