MINUTES e e Histori~ Preservation Commission November 13, 1990 The regular meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission was called to order by Pete Raab, president, at 7:35p.m. Present: Pete Raab, Mike Yawman, Tom Johnson, Ann Landis, Teresa Goldsmith. Guests: Patricia Warren, Jefferson County Historical Society; Sheri Robison, Main Street Project. Rick Sepler was present from the Planning Department. Liz Smith arrived at 7:40. Minutes were approved as writtem. Landis reported that the Sperry slides have been organized. Discussion followed concerning how the Commission should structure the survey information. Raab reported that Sandra Seton has a collection of thousands of old photos of Port Townsend for sale. After much discussion and checking with Patricia Warren concerning what the Society has available and what their future plans are, it was moved that the HPC be responsible for starting an inventory file for ready reference of the buildings, pivotal, primary and secondary within the Historic District. Goldsmith seconded the motion. It was decided that the file would mainly consist of xeroxes of HIstorÍcal Society pictures and notatiøns of where information could be found at the Society plus the form from the State Office filled out and any other information that specifically speaks to HPC's needs. The motion was unanimously approved. Sepler mentioned the Pope Marine Building project which involves applying for a $15,000 matching grant to replace seven pilings. This could be considered emergency repair. After discussion, it was decided that the Planning Department should send a letter to HPC requesting an official response. HPC willhr- Nov. 16, 7:30 a.m. to discuss the newly proposed design guide- lines. ~ There was discussion concerning restorátion design philosophy. Sepler volunteered to look into adaptive reuse guidelines. It was reported that the E. B. Hill valuation: application is pending.
