RESOLUTION NO. 12-001
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON,AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A GRANT
AWARD FROM THE WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE,
COMMUNITY SERVICES AND HOUSING DIVISION, OFFICE OF CRIME VICTIM
ADVOCACY FOR THE "SERVICES-TRAINING-OFFICERS-PROSECUTORS" (STOP)
FORMULA GRANT
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend desires to accept a grant award from the
Washington State Department of Commerce, Community Services and Housing Division, Office
of Crime Victim Advocacy formula STOP grant; and
WHEREAS, STOP grants are awarded to support coordinated responses to adult or teen
victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking crimes ; and
WHEREAS, STOP grants provide funds to law enforcement, prosecution, and victim
services in each geographical county to encourage collaboration and teamwork at the local level;
and
WHEREAS, STOP grant funds provide $15,728 to be equally divided between the City
of Port Townsend Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office; and
WHEREAS, awarded law enforcement funds will be in conjunction with $15,728
awarded to the Jefferson County Prosecutor's Office and $15,728 awarded to DOVE House
Victim Advocacy Services; and
WHEREAS, the grant period is from January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2012; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend that the City Manager is hereby authorized to accept the Washington State
Department of Commerce, Community Services and Housing Division, Office of Crime Victim
Advocacy formula STOP grant award.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port To asend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 3'd day of January 2012.
