RESOLUTION NO. 11-040
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN
AGREEMENT WITH THE TEAMSTERS LOCAL NO. 589 (GENERAL
GOVERNMENT) FOR 2012
WHEREAS, the City Manager has preliminarily negotiated terms that modify and extend
for 2012 an existing Agreement with the Teamsters Local No. 589 (representing General
Government Employees), which Agreement applies for calendar year 2011 (the"2011
Agreement," effective January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2011), and recommends that
Council approve the terms; and
WHEREAS, the City Council approves the terms, which represent cost savings to the
City and place the salary and benefits for the represented general goverment employees more in
line with the salary and benefit of the non-represented general government employees,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follows:
The City Manager is authorized to execute an agreement or agreements with the
Teamsters Local No. 589 (representing General Government Employees) to modify and extend
for 2012 the 2011 Agreement on the following terms:
1. Freezes current wages to include both
• COLA
• Step and Longevity
2. Moves benefits from Plan B to Plan A
• Increase employee contribution rate to 15% (all plans)
3. Eliminates medical reimbursement by City
4. Eliminates four days leave benefit in-lieu of COLA per LOU dated 12/10/10.
5. The starting point to negotiate new terms for a future agreement will be based upon
on the 2011 Agreement,
6. Except as modified, all other terms of the 2011 Agreement remain the same.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 12th day of December 2011.
