AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND CORRECTING
ZONING CODE USE MATRIX TO BE CONSISTENT WITH ORDINANCE NO.
2446 REGARDING FAMILY DAY CARE PROVIDERS AND CHILD DAY CARE
CENTERS
.Whereas, on February 6, 1995, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 2446, amending
Chapter 17.32 of the Port Townsend Municipal Code as it relates to family day care providers
and child day care facilities; and
Whereas, consistent with state law that ordinance made family day care homes an
outright permitted use in all residential and commercial districts, and also made child day care
centers a conditional use in all zoning districts; and
Whereas, the zoning code use matrix needs to be changed to reflect the amendments
Contained in Ordinance No. 2446,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, in regular session
assembled, does ordain as follows:
Section 1. Chapter 17.16, section 010 of the Port Townsend Municipal Code,
Permitted and Condi~onal Uses matrix chart, is hereby amended to delete the phrase children
or from the entry Convalesent and nursing homes and homes for the care of children or the
aged and to add two new uses to read as follows:
Day care centers
Family day care homes
with uses in districts per the attached chart (Attachment 1).

Section 2. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance or its application to
any person or circumstance is held invalid, the remainder of the ordinance, or the application
of the provision to other persons or circumstances is not affected.
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect five days after the date of its passage,
approval, and publication in the manner provided by law.
Read for the first, second, and third times and passed by the City Council of the City
of Port Townsend, Washington, at a regula m~f, held this ] s--2-~ day of ~l~il,
