RESOLUTION NO. 11-035
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PORT TOWNSEND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE
THE BID FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE CITY LAKE
OUTFALL PIPELINE REPLACEMENT PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the importance of the City Lake water
transmission system and its repair as part of the Port Townsend Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan's
strategy of seismically retrofitting all public facilities that are vulnerable to earthquakes; and
WHEREAS, the City Council authorized the contract on January 25, 2010 with HDR
Engineering Inc. for development and preliminary design of the City Lake Outfall Pipeline
Replacement Project; and
WHEREAS, the City staff and project consultants are nearing completion of the design
and engineering of the City Lake Outfall Pipeline Replacement Project; and
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend has received a Pre-Disaster Mitigation grant
from Federal Emergency Management Agency and a Washington State Public Works Trust Fund
Loan for the City Lake Outfall Pipeline Replacement Project; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council to move forward with this project
construction in the most expedient manner; and
WHEREAS, the City will solicit bids for construction services in confonnance with City
and State public works bid laws in a fair and timely fashion.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follows:
The City Council of Port Townsend authorizes the City Manager to proceed to advertise the bid
for the construction of the City Lake Outfall Pipeline Replacement Project.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 7t'' day of November 2011. �b / uct&
