HomeMy WebLinkAbout2476 Amending Ordinance 1763 to Add Omitted Streets as Prohibited Areas for Skateboards and Roller SkatesOrdinance o 47£ AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND AMENDING CHAPTER 10.40, SKATEBOARDS AND ROLLER SKATES, OF THE PORT TOWNSEND MUNICIPAL CODE, TO ADD OMITTED STREETS FROM PROHIBITED AREAS WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 1763 adopted August 17, 1976, needs to be amended to add omitted streets from prohibited areas, for skateboards and/or roller skates. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend does ordain as follows: Section 1. Chapter 10.40, Skateboards and Roller Skates, of the Port Townsend Municipal Code is hereby amended and shall be codified by the City Code Reviser to read as follows: Chapter 10.40 SKATEBOARDS AND ROLLER SKATES Sections: 10.40.010 Definition. 10.40.020 Prohibited locations. 10.40.030 Roller skates. 10.40.010 Definition. "Skateboard" is defined as a flat board or other material to which wheels have been attached in such manner that the same may contain a person in a standing position on the top thereof, and includes all such devices as may commonly be offered for sale as "skateboards." (Ord.,,9'/7~§ 1, 1995; Ord. 1763 § 1, 1976). 10.40.020 Prohibited locations. The use or riding of skateboards is prohibited on all portions of streets in the city which are open to vehicular traffic and all public sidewalks on the portions of streets hereinafter mentioned: A. Water Street between Monroe Street and Harrison Street; B. Washington Street between Monroe and Taylor Streets; C. Taylor Street between Washington and-F'rtm-~8-t~; , . ,,q_ ~,~///,/~--' D. Ad ams Street between Wa shington+j~e.and ~;/ F.G. Lawrence Monroe Street S,eet between between Lawrence Taylor and andHarris°n~e ~ a'~.~, e~'~, Streets;2 and . / '~T./~/~ 2"~//~ H. Polk Street between Washington and Water Streets; and I. Tyler Street between Washington Street and the shoreline. (Ord. o74'2g'§ 1, 1995; Ord. 1763 § 2, 1976). 10.40.030 Roller skates. The use and operation of roller skates on all portions of streets open to vehicular traffic and on the sidewalks set forth in PTMC 10.40.020 is prohibited. (Ord. 1763 § 3, 1976). Section 2. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance or its application to any person or circumstance is held invalid, the remainder of the ordinance, or the application of the provision to other persons or circumstances is not affected. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force five days after the date of its publication in the manner provided by law.
