RESOLUTION NO. 11-022
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT A GRANT
APPLICATION TO THE WASHINGTON STATE OFFICE OF PUBLIC DEFENSE
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend desires to apply for the Washington State Office
of Public Defense 2012 Public Defense Grant; and
WHEREAS, Public Defense grant funds provide State funding for appreciable and
demonstrable improvements in the delivery of public defense services; and
WHEREAS, the City seeks $15,000 in grant funds for additional part-time attorney
hours allowing for representation of indigent defendants at first appearances/arraignments; and
WHEREAS, awarded grant funds will be dispersed to Jefferson Associated Counsel,
having been contracted to provide public defense services to the City, for the enhancement of
City public defense services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend that the City Manager is hereby authorized to apply for the Washington State Office of
Public Defense 2012 Public Defense Grant
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 18"' day of July 2011.
