RESOLUTION NO. 04-059
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
EXTENSIONS TO THE INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT REGARDING EMERGENCY
DISPATCHING, COMMUNICATIONS AND OTHER SERVICES BEYOND
DECEMBER 31, 2004
WHEREAS, by Resolution 02-033, Council authorized the City Manager to
execute an Agreement with Jefferson County and other users for E-911 service, which
Agreement was executed July 16, 2002; and
WHEREAS, the Agreement states it shall terminate December 31, 2004, unless
County and a majority of Recipients agree, in writing, to extend the Agreement past the
termination date; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City to extend the Agreement with
Jefferson County and other users for E-911 service to at least December 31, 2006, and
WHEREAS, the Council determines it appropriate to authorize the City Manager
to execute future extensions beyond December 31,2006, based on the City's ability, as
provided by the Interlocal Agreement (XI. Duration and Termination), to withdraw by
giving one year's notice received by December 31 of the year prior to termination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council ofthe City of
Port Townsend that the City Manager is authorized to:
1) execute an extension to the Interlocal Agreement Regarding Emergency Dispatching,
Communications and Other Services (due to expire December 31, 2004 unless
extended) to a new termination date of December 31, 2006, and
2) execute future extensions beyond December 31,2006, based on the City's ability, as
provided by the Interlocal Agreement (XI. Duration and Termination), to withdraw by
giving one year's notice received by December 31 of the year prior to termination.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular
meeting thereof, held this 15th day of November, 2004.
