RESOLUTION NO. 04-057
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON RESCINDING RESOLUTION 04-053 (PASSED SEPTEMBER 15,2004)
WHEREAS, on September 15, 2004, City Council adopted Resolution 04-053,
identifying programs the Council intended not to fund as part of the 2005 budget (if the
ballot proposition does not pass) and establishing a process to establish core city
functions; and
WHEREAS, on November 2, 2004, the property tax levy ballot proposition did
not pass; and
WHEREAS, following the directive of Resolution 04-053 to prepare budget
alternatives depending on whether the property tax levy passed, the City Manager
prepared and submitted a preliminary 2005 budget on November 5, 2004 based on the
property tax levy measure not passing; and
WHEREAS, the City Council determines to rescind Resolution 04-053 at this
time to review the City Manager's preliminary budget, set 2005 budget priorities as part
of the 2005 budget adoption process, conduct Council deliberations on the 2005 budget,
receive public input on the budget (including, from Town Meeting held November 8,
2004, the supplemental budget hearing scheduled November 22, 2004, and the budget
hearing scheduled December 6,2004), and adopt a final 2005 budget, without the limiting
statements set forth in Resolution 04-053.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Port Townsend as follows:
The City Council hereby rescinds Resolution 04-053 (passed September 15, 2004).
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular
meeting thereof, held this fifteenth day of November, 2004.
