AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND AMENDING
SECTION 2.68.010, BOARD CREATED, CltAPTER 2.68, ARTS
COMMISSION, OF THE PORT TOWNSEND MUNICIPAL CODE
WHEREAS, the Port Townsend Arts Commission is a City Commission established for
the purposes stated in PTMC 2.68.020; and
WHEREAS, the port Townsend Arts Commission has amended its Bylaws to increase
the number of potential commission members; and
WHEREAS, through this ordinance, the City Council intends to implement this change in
the City code,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend does ordain as
follows:
Section 1. Section 2.68.010, Board created, Chapter 2.68, Arts Commission, of the
Port Townsend Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:

ARTS COMMISSION

2.68.010 Board created.
2.68.020 Purpose.
2.68.010 Board created.
There is created a board of arts commissioners, consisting of not less than seven nor more
than nine members, to be appointed by the mayor with the consent of the city council from
citizens of recognized fitness for such positions. (Ord. __ § 1, 1996; Ord. 1852 § 1, 1980).
2.68.020 Purpose.
The purpose of the arts commission established by this chapter is declared to be to
promote and encourage public programs to further the development and public awareness of and
interest in the arts, to have available to the city and its citizens a degree of expertise with respect
to the performing, visual and literary arts and to act in an advisory capacity to the city government
in connection with the artistic and cultural development of the city. (Ord. 1852 § 1, 1980).
Section 2. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance or its application to any
person or circumstance is held invalid, the remainder of the ordinance, or the application of the
provision to other persons Or circumstances is not affected.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in force five days after the date of its publication in
the manner provided by law.
Read for the first, second, and third times and passed by the City Council of the City of
Port Townsend, Washington, at a regular meeting thereof, held this ~ 3 day of~, 1996.
