A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, ADOPTING THE 2004 JEFFERSON COUNTY-CITY OF PORT
TOWNSEND NATURAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN AS THE OFFICIAL
NATURAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN FOR THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
WHEREAS, the 2004 Jefferson County Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan is a Multi-
Jurisdictional Plan that meets the Federal Emergency Management Agency requirements for
compliance with the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 (44CFR 201.6); and
WHEREAS, the Plan includes the Natural Hazard and Flood Hazard Mitigation Plan for
the City of Port Townsend; and
WHEREAS, keeping the Jefferson County Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan up to date
and adding new projects to the Action Plan is timely and provides the umbrella needed to
continue with active participation in the program; and
WHEREAS, adoption ofthe Plan would continue to facilitate implementation of the City
of Port Townsend Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS, the 2004 Jefferson County Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan provides a
current framework for natural hazard reduction in the community, and the framework for the
plan has been reviewed through a long term public involvement process; and
WHEREAS, it is concluded that the adoption of the 2004 Jefferson County Natural
Hazard Mitigation Plan is necessary and in the public interest,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend, that this 2004 Jefferson County Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan is hereby adopted as
the official Natural Hazard Plan for the City of Port Townsend.
ADOPTED by the City Council ofthe City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this nineteenth day of July 2004.
