RESOLUTION NO. 04-026
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO TRANSFER THE
SAVE AMERICA'S TREASURES GRANT FROM THE
JEFFERSON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY TO THE CITY AND
TO SIGN AN AGREEMENT AND NECESSARY DOCUMENTS WITH THE
NATIONAL PARK SERVICE
WHEREAS, Jefferson County Historical Society applied for and received a Save
America's Treasures grant from the National Park Service for $280,000 for the restoration
of Old City Hall; and
WHEREAS, the City has taken on the Old City Hall Restoration and City Hall
Annex as one project; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest ofthe City, as the owner ofthe Old City
Hall building and the match provider for this grant, to be named as the recipient of the
Save America's Treasures grant; and
WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Historical Society supports this action.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council ofthe City of
Port Townsend that the City Manager is hereby authorized to transfer the Save America's
Treasures grant from the Jefferson County Historical Society to the City of Port
Townsend and to sign an Agreement with the National Parks Service, and all necessary
documents related to the grant, including a 50-year maintenance covenant on City Hall.
ADOPTED by the City Council ofthe City of Port Townsend at a regular
meeting thereof, held this seventh day of June, 2004.
