AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND AMENDING PORT
TOWNSENI) MUNICIPAL CODE CHAPTER 17.60, AMENDMENTS, TO BE
GOVERNED BY THE NEW CHAPTER 20.04, LAND USE PLANS AND
IMPLEMENTATION, TITLE 20, ADMINISTRATION OF LAND DEVELOPMENT
REGULATIONS
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend desires to adopt a uniform and consistent process
for amending or updating the zoning code and Port Townsend Comprehensive Plan and/or Land
Use Map; and
WHEREAS, the City Council determines that the provisions of this Ordinance are
necessary and appropriate to remove dated sections of the Port Townsend Municipal Code related
to zoning text, the Port Townsend Comprehensive Plan, and land use map amendments, and
desires to replace them with provisions consistent with the Growth Management Act, RCW
36.70A, et seq.,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend does ordain as
follows:

Amendments/updates governed by Chapter 20.04.

Section 1. Chapter 17.60 Amendments, of the Port Townsend Municipal Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:
17.60.010 Hemfingr. Amendments governed by Chapter 20.04,
Proposed zoning text, development regulation, comprehensive plan and/or land use map
amendments shall be governed by the provisions of Chapter 20.04 PTMC.

Section 2. Sevembility. If any provision of this ordinance or its application to any
person or circumstance is held invalid, the remainder of the ordinance, or the application of the
provision to other persons or circumstances is not affected.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in force five days after the date of its publication
in the manner provided by law.
Read for the first, second, and third times and passed by the City Council of the City of
Port Townsend, Washington, at a regular meeting thereof, held this 16th day of December, 1996.
