AN ORDINANCE establishing adjusted salaries for certain city
positions, and establishing an effective date.
the City has agreed to make certain salary adjustments pursuant to current labor
agreements for police officers, firefighters, and general government employees;
and
the City Council wishes to implement equivalent cost-of-living adjustments for
positions which are not included in labor agreements; and
the City Council has approved certain additional adjustments in the 1997 Budget;
Now, Therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, IN REGULAR SESSION
ASSEMBLED, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. From and after January 1, 1997, the salaries for the following city
positions are fixed not to exceed the following amounts, which salaries shall be
paid monthly, unless otherwise indicated:
Police Chief ............................................. $4,905.67
Police Sergeant ............................................ 3,367.56
Police Officer ............................................. 3,423.60
Records Clerk-Receptionist .................................. 1,682.89
Data Entry-Records Specialist ................................ 1,902.16

Section 5. Any and all actions taken pursuant to the authority of this ordirtance
but prior to its passage are hereby ratified and confirmed.
Section 6. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage, approval and

Read for the first, second and third times, and pass_ed by the City Council and
