AN ORDINANCE appropriating the sum of $18,000 to the Current
Expense Fund, and $5,000 to the Drug Enforcement and Education Fund,
making findings and declaring an emergency.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, UPON REVIEW OF THE 1997 BUDGET,
MAKES THE FOLLOWING FINDINGS:
Whereas, the Police Department has experienced unanticipated needs for a records management
system, and
Whereas, it has become necessary to purchase additional police uniforms due to turnover in
personnel, and
Whereas, additional replacement soft body armor and emergency management training are now
required, and
Whereas, the above findings are due to events which could not have reasonably been known at the
time of adoption of the 1997 Budget;
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND IN REGULAR SESSION ASSEMBLED
DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The sum of EIGHTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($18,000) is hereby appropriated as a
supplement to the 1997 Current Expense Fund budget from additional unanticipated grants to said Fund,
as shown in Exhibit A, attached hereto. In addition the sum of THIRTY FIVE THOUSAND SIX
HUNDRED SEVENTY FIVE DOLLARS ($35,675) is hereby appropriated as a supplement to the 1997
Current Expense Fund budget and the appropriation for Contingency is hereby reduced by the same amount
as shown in Exhibit A, attached hereto.
Section 2. The sum of FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000) is hereby appropriated as a
supplement to the 1997 budget for the Drug Enforcement and Education Fund from the balance in said fund
as set forth in Exhibit A, attached hereto.
Section 3. There is hereby found and declared to be an emergency requiring the foregoing
appropriations to the 1997 budget.
Section 4 This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage, approval, and publication in the form and
manner provided by law.
READ for the first time on April 21, 1997. Read for the second and third times, passed by the City Council
and approved by the Mayor on April 21, 1997.
