RESOLUTION NO. 11-007
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND
EXECUTE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENTS WITH BERGERABAM
CONSUL T ANT SERVICES FOR THE DESIGN ENGINEERING PHASE FOR THE
HOWARD STREET EXTENSION PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the City has included the Howard Street Extension Project in the
2011 Capital Improvement Program; and
WHEREAS, the Howard St. Extension Project will extend fi"om the new
roundabout on Sims Way to Discovery Road, and eventually north to 20th Street, and this
has been established as a high priority of the City Council for both its economic
development and traffic management benefits; and
WHEREAS, the 2010 Capital Project Bond includes $675,000 for the planning
and design work for extending Howard Street to Discovery Road; and
WHEREAS, it would be beneficial to the City to utilize Consultants as an
independent entity to provide professional services for the design engineering phase of
the Howard Street Extension project; and
WHEREAS, the City does not have sufficient staff or expertise to conduct such
services itself; and
WHEREAS, the City and a search committee has interviewed qualified firms
selected from the City's Professional Services Roster for the design and project
management of the project; and
WHEREAS, the City and the search committee selected BergerABAM as the
best qualified firm for this project:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Port Townsend as follows: authorizes the City Manager to negotiate and execute Professional
Services Agreements with BergerABAM not to exceed $670,000 for the design engineering
phase of consultant services for the Howard Street Extension project.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 11 th day of April 2011. )n~~
