AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND AMENDING
THE PORT TOWNSEND MUNICIPAL CODE CHAPTER 2.06, CITY
CLERK, SECTION 2.06.030, POWERS AND DUTIES TO REVISE THE
CITY CLERK'S DUTIES
WHEREAS, Section 2.06.030 of the Port Townsend Municipal Code contains
an outdated reference to the city administrator that should be changed to city manager;
and
WHEREAS, the Council determines it appropriate to specify that the city
clerk's duties include responsibility for records management for the city,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend ordains
as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 2.06, City Clerk, Section 2.06.030, Powers and Duties of
the Port Townsend Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows (strike is
deleted, underlined is added):
2.06.030 Powers and duties.
The duties of the city clerk shall be as set out in RCW Title 35, and as
specifically set out in RCW 35.23.121, as now or later amended, and
any other duties as required by statute or city ordinance. The powers,
duties and responsibilities of the city clerk shall be subject to the
direction and supervision of the city administrator city manager. The
powers, duties and responsibilities of the city clerk include city-wide
records management.
SECTION 2. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance or its application
to any person or circumstance is held invalid, the remainder of the ordinance, or the
application of the provision to other persons or circumstances is not affected.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in force five days after the date of its
publication in the manner provided by law.
