HomeMy WebLinkAbout04092001 SpecialCITY OF PORT TOWNSEND MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL SESSION OF APRIL 9, 2001 The City Council of the City of Port Townsend met in special session this ninth day of April, 2001, at 6:30 p.m. in the Port Townsend Council Chambers of City Hall, Mayor Geoff Masci presiding. ROLL CALL AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. Councilmembers present at roll call were Geoff Masci, Joe Firmie, Allen Frank, Syd Lipton, Bill Wolcott and Alan Youse. Staff members present were City Manager David Timmons, City Attorney John Watts, Public Works Director Ken Clow, City Engineer Dave Peterson, City Clerk Pam Kolacy. NEW BUSINESS ORDINANCE 2764 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND PROVIDING FOR CONDEMNATION OF CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY IN THE CITY, CONSISTING OF APPROXIMATELY 25' BY 60' WITHIN A PORTION OF THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF THE INTERWEST BANK SITE, 2101 WASHINGTON ST., PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, TAX PARCEL 957602803, NECESSARY FOR THE LOCATION AND CONSTRUCTION OF A PROPOSED PUMP STATION AT THE SOUTHERN TERMINUS OF GAINES STREET Mr. Watts introduced the ordinance, and stated that efforts to acquire a portion of the Interwest Bank site for location and construction of the Gaines Street pump station have been unsuccessful. Condemnation is the necessary next step to acquire the property, which is needed for the pump station project because it provides the best location for the pump station. Motion: Mr. Garrison moved to suspend council rules and take action on the ordinance. Mr. Frank seconded. The motion carried unanimously, 7-0, by voice vote. Motion: Mr. Garrison moved to for adoption of Ordinance 2764. Mr. Frank seconded. Mr. Lipton noted a correction in Section 2 The reference to the "general funds" of the City of Port Townsend should read "the water and sewer funds" of the City of Port Townsend. This was accepted as a friendly amendment.
