HomeMy WebLinkAbout2615 Skateboarding Prohibited at Park and RideOrdinance No. ~Q (~/_S AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE TO ADD THE PARK & RIDE AREA AS PROHIBITED SKATEBOARD ACTIVITY IN SECTION 10.40.010, PROHIBITED LOCATIONS, OF CHAPTER 10.40, SKATEBOARDS AND ROLLER SKATES WHEREAS, the "Skateboards and roller skates" Ordinance 2476 was adopted September 5, 1995, establishing prohibited sidewalk locations for skateboard and roller skate use, and later amended by Ordinance 2546 adding additional prohibited locations; and WI~ZREAS, concerned citizens and Jefferson Transit have requested the sidewalk located adjacent to 12th Street in the Park and Ride area be included in the prohibited locations for skateboarding activities; and WHEREAS, the City Council is in favor of prohibiting skateboard use on the identified sidewalk area of the Port Townsend Park & Ride, NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend ordains as follows: SECTION 1. Section 10.40.020, Prohibited locations, of Chapter 10.40, Skateboards and Roller skates, of the Port Townsend Municipal Code is hereby mended to read as follows: 10.40.020 Prohibited locations. The use or riding of skateboards is prohibited on all portions of streets in the city which are open to vehicular traffic and all public sidewalks on the portions of streets hereinafter mentioned: A. Water Street between Monroe Street and Walker Street; B. Washington Street between Monroe and Harrison Streets; C. Taylor Street between Washington and Front Streets; D. Adams Street between Washington Street and the shoreline; E. Quincy Street between Water and Washington Streets; F. Lawrence Street between Taylor and Harrison Streets; G. Monroe Street between Lawrence and Water Streets; H. Polk Street between Washington and Water Streets; I. Tyler Street between Washington Street and the shoreline; J. Madison Street between Washington Street and the shoreline; K. Union Wharf; L. City Doc~ M. Sims Way between Walker Street and Kearney Street;_ag~l. N. 12th Street between Landes Street and Haines Street. (Ord. § 1, 1997; Ord. 2546 § 1, 1996; Ord. 2476 § 1, 1995; Ord. 1763 § 2, 1976). SECTION 2. Sevembility, If any provision of this ordinance or its application to any person or circumstance is held invalid, the remainder of the ordinance, or the application of the provision to other persons or circumstances is not affected. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force five days after the date of its publication in the manner provided by law. Read for the first, second, and third times and passed by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, at a regular meeting thereof, held this 6th day of October, 1997.
