HomeMy WebLinkAbout10221998 PORT TOWNSEND CITY COUNCIL MINUTES OF THE WORKSHOP SESSION OF OCTOBER 22, 1998 The Port Townsend City Council met for a workshop on the 1999 Budget at 6:30 p.m. on October 22, 1998. The purpose of the meeting was to hear individual budget presentations by the Police and Public Works departments. Mayor McCulloch called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. Council members present were Ian Keith, Peter Badame, Joe Finnie, Ted Shoulberg, Kate Jenks, and Mark Welch. Forrest Rambo was excused. Special · corrections noted or additional information requested: upgrading one position in the Police Department to sergeant adds $8,000 to budget (listed as $2,000). Correct FTE to show that DARE is not a full time position, but ½ time with ½ time devoted to Crime Prevention Public Works facilities maintenance not budgeted in 1998, therefore much higher in 1999 Council requested more details on public restroom repairs, as well as maintenance and a breakdown of 1998 materials and labor for the restrooms. Recreation: Add $4,000 for winter camp program (left out) Request grid of staffing by position, with FTE and allocations too general as submitted. Departmental FTE tables were left out of budget, but are done and will be distributed to council and included in final budget. Budget narratives to be redone to reflect actual budget allocations. The meeting was recessed at 8:40 and reconvened at 8:50 p.m. Request for job descriptions for engineering contract positions and watershed specialist. Format: all budget sections should show accomplishments first and goals second for consistency. A meeting to discuss the Capital Improvement Program portion of the budget was set for Tuesday, October 26, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting was adjourned at 10:05 p.m. Attest: U Pmela Kolacy, City Clerk
