HomeMy WebLinkAbout71-003RESOLUTION 71-3 The Port Townsend City Council wishes to submit the following resolution: WHEREAS, The State of Washington, by and through its Law Enforcement Training Commission, is engaged in the planning of a law enforcement officers training academy, and WHEREAS, The State of Washington presently owns Fort Worden in Jefferson County, and WHEREAS, Fort Worden is a site already equipped with a physical plant suitable and available for such training facilities, and WHEREAS, Fort Worden facilities are adequate to accomodate both the existing juvenile treatment center at said site and the proposed law enforce- ment officers training academy, and WHEREAS, it appears likely that the juvenile treatment center at Fort Worden will be closed in 1971, so that the entire facility will be available for a training academy and other uses, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PORT TOWNSEND CITY COUNCIL: That the Washington State Training Commission be urged to direct that Fort Worden be considered as a site for the location of a law enforcement officers training academy.
