HomeMy WebLinkAbout72-011RESOLUTION NO. 72- 11 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO ESTABLISH VOLUNTEER POLICE PATROLMEN, TO SELECT THE SAME, AND PROVIDING THAT THEY SHALL BE UNCOMPENSATED WHEN SERVING AS VOLUNTEERS, AND AUTHORIZING THEIR INCLUSION UNDER STATE INDUSTRIAL INSURANCE COVERAGE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, IN REGULAR SESSION ASSEMBLED, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE: The Chief of Police of the City of Port Townsend is here and hereby authorized to select and appoint "volunteer patrolmen" for the City Police Department, in such number as he may deem proper, not to exceed ten (10), for the p~ose of providing reserve and additional police protection and Law enforcement assistance for special events and purposes; and said volunteer police officers shall comply with the standards for admission to service set forth by the Chief of Police, and shall have authority as police officers as may be delegated to them by the Chief of Police. Volunteer police officers shall serve without compensation from the City of any kind, but shall be eligible for and shall be in- cluded in State Industrial Insurance coverage, in accord with the regulations and conditions set forth by the State of Washington De- partment of Labor and Industries, and may ~eceive such other benefits as the City Council may from time to time by motion authorize.
