RESOLUTION NO. 10-032
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON DECLARING URBAN ACCESSORIES THE SOLE SOURCE
PROVIDER FOR TREE GRATES TO BE INSTALLED IN THE DOWNTOWN
HISTORIC DISTRICT
WHEREAS, tree grates with an Historic Preservation Committee approved design will
be donated to the City and will be installed in Pope Marine Park; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to install additional grates in the Downtown Historic
District; and
WHEREAS, the estimated cost for eight grates is $7,000.00; and
WHEREAS, State law and the City's own purchasing ordinance requires purchases of
materials and supplies over $7,500 be competitively bid or bid using the City's Vendor List or
materials and supplies costing over $15,000 a year to be competitively bid; and
WHEREAS, one of the stated goals of the 2007 Port Townsend Streetscape Plan is to
develop a unified and cohesive urban design for the downtown; and
WHEREAS, purchasing these grates from Urban Accessories will create an exact match
to the existing tree grates; and
WHEREAS, RCW 35.23.352(9) authorizes sole source purchasing without calling for
bids; and
WHEREAS, The statute requires a resolution by Council declaring an exemption from
bidding under the sole source provision,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend as follows: to declare Urban Accessories as the sole source for the tree grates to be
installed in the Downtown Historic District.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular meeting
thereof, held this 7th day of September 2010. ~ ~ p,
