HomeMy WebLinkAbout73-004RESOLUTION NO. 73 - 4 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENTS AND ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE CONTROL OF TRAFFIC ON CITY.ST. REETS FOR THE SPECIAL PURPOSE OF PROPERLY CONTROLLING FERRY TRAFFIC, UPON PAYMENT BY THE FERRY OPERATOR OF A FEE FOR THE ADDITIONAL WAGES OF POLICE PATROLMEN REQUIRED, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY TREASURER TO ACCEPT PAYMENT FOR SUCH SERVICES. For the same reasons and purposes as are set forth in a resolution passed on June 6, 1972, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, in regular session assembled, does hereby RESOLVE: Section 1. That the Chief of Police of the City of Port Townsend be and he is hereby authorized and directed to provide traffic control and direction for the handling of ferry traffic loading and unloading in the City of PortTownsend, upon payment to the City of the sum of One Hundred Fifty Dollars ($150.00) per week, in advance, for each week that such traffic control and direction is provided by the Port Townsend Police Department, and provided that all such traffic control and direction shall be under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Chief of Police, and that personnel involved therein shall not be subject to the orders of any person othe=rthan said Chief of Police. Section 2. The City Treasurer of the City of Port Townsend is here a~d~he'~by authorized and directed to accept from the Olympic Ferries, Inc., or its successors, payments in such sums as herein authorized, either in single weeks, or in advance of the due date, and to deposit the same in the general fund of the City for the purpose of defraying costs incurred hereby. Section 3. This resolution shall remain in effect until repealed or amended', P~Ovided, that the monetary amounts herein provided may from time tO time be changed by motion duly passed at a regular City Council meeting.
