A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO ENTER INTO A
COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT WITH JEFFERSON COUNTY,
WASHINGTON, FOR THE ESTABLISHING AND SUPPORT OF A
BUILDING INSPECTION DEPARTMENT TO SERVE~BOTH OF
SAID COUNTY AND CITY, PROVIDING FOR THE FINANCIAL
SUPPORT THEREOF, AND AUTHORIZING THEMAYOR TO ENTER ~
INTO A CONTRAC~i~THEREFOR.
WHEREAS, the StaGe of Washington has adopted laws requiring
the adoption of a State Building Code by January 1, 1975, which
code requires, among other things, that a building inspector be
retained, and
WHEREAS, Jefferson County, Washington, has indicated its
agreement to enter into a jointly operated building inspection
program under said State law, now, therefore, the City Council
of the City of Port Townsend, in regular session assembled, does
here and hereby RESOLVE:
Section 1. That the City of Port Townsend shOuld enter into
a jointly operated and financed building inspection program, for
the purpose of implementing the State of Washington Building Code
for said City and County by January 1, 1975.
Section 2. That a Building Inspector having jurisdiction in
the City of Port Townsend, as well as in Jefferson County, is here
and hereby authorized to be appointed by the Mayor, in concert with
the Board of Commissioners for said Jefferson County, for the
enforcement and implementation of said State Building Code, as adopted.
Section 3. That, commencing January 1, 1975, Buildingipermit fees
of the City shall be allocated for and disbursed to the support of
~said building inspector office, in conformity to an agreement to be
entered into with said Jefferson County for the mutual financial
support of said office, and pursuant to such budgetary appropriation
as may henceforth be made.
Section 4. The Mayor is here and hereby authorized and directed
to enter into an agreement with the said Jefferson COunty, for the
establishment and support of a building inspection office, as
hereinbefore set forth, on such terms as shall provide a jointly
owned and administered county-city building inspection capability
within the meaning and requirements of any existing or future
laws of the State of Washington.
