HomeMy WebLinkAbout79-013RESOLUTION NO. ~- / ~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, AUTHORIZING THE SIGNING OF AN INTERLOCAL COOPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND OTHER MUNICIPALITIES AND INDIAN TRIBLA COUNCILS ON THE NORTH OLYMPIC PENINSULA FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING A PRE-APPLICATION FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS. WHEREAS, the City Port Townsend recognizes the need for improved land use, increased economic and housing opportunities for low and moderate income people, correcting health and safety deficiencies in public facilities and deconcentrated low income housing, and WHEREAS, the citizens of Port Townsend have expressed an interest in meeting these needs, and WHEREAS, the Department of Housing and Urban Development has financial aid available under the Small Cities Program of the Community Development Block Grant Program of 1978, now therefore, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend: Section 1. That the City of Port Townsend join Clallam County, the Town of Forks, Jefferson County, the Lower Elwha Band of the Clallam Indian Tribe, City of Port Angeles, the Quileute Indian Tribe, and the City of Sequim, in the submission of an application for Small Cities Program, Community Development Block Grant funds. Section 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign the Interlocal Cooperation Agreement necessary for submission of a joint application for Block Grant Funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
