A RESOLUTION DECLARING COUNCIL SUPPORT FOR
CENTRALIZATION OF EMERGENCY CALL NUMBERS.
WHEREAS, for many years there has been a growing need for the centralization
of emergency call numbers for expedition of proper life and home saving service,
and,
WHEREAS, one central, toll-free number such as the 911 number used in many parts
of the country could be installed, and,
WHEREAS, there is much interdependency between outlying areas and the City which
makes a combined effort between Jefferson County and the City of Port Townsend
sensible, now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND: that the City
of Port Townsend place its wholehearted support behind efforts to establish one,
toll-free emergency number throughout Jefferson County, and Exhibit A, hereunto
annexed,iS by this reference incorporated herein the same as though a part hereof.

911 NUMBER
TO ENACT THIS SYSTEM WILL REQUIRE A RESOLUTION FROM THE CITY
COUNCIL TO BE SENT TO THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS. ALL CHARGES
AND PAYMENTS WILL BE HANDLED BY THE COUNTY TREASURER. IT WILL
TAKE 13 TO 18 MONTHS TO COMPLETELY INSTALL THE SYSTEM AND WE
ARE TARGETING JUNE 1ST, 1980 AS THE DATE FOR APPLICATION. MOST
MONIES WILL NOT BE DUE UNTIL THE SYSTEM IS INSTALLED AND OPER-
ATIONAL.
WE HAVE FAIRLY ACCURATE COST QUOTES. WHERE THERE IS A POTEN-
TIAL INCREASE, IT IS NOTED IN PARENTHESIS.
