A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO
A CONTRACT WITH THE TRUST FOR PUBLIC LANDS.
RELEVANT TO LAND ACQUISITION FOR A PARK
WHEREAS, pursuant to the comprehensive park plan, and grant
from the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation, the City
of Port Townsend Park Board has undertaken the acquisition of
lands bordering upon Kah Tai Lagoon, and
WHEREAS, the Trust for Public Lands is a nonprofit corporation
engaged in the acquisition of lands for public use, and performs
services for governmental units in the land acquisition process
without direct compensation from the said governmental units, and
WHEREAS, the said Trust for Public Lands has met with the
Park Board and other city officials, and the Park Board and City
Attorney have recommended that the TRust for Public lands be
utilized in the acquisition of lands for the development of the
Kah Tai Lagoon perimeter park, now, therefore,~
BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend, that the May~r be and he is hereby authorized and directed
to enter into and execute a contract with the Trust for Public Lands,
by the terms of which the City authorizes said Trust for Public Lands
to acquire lands for the development of Kah Tai Lagoon Park, in
accord with the comprehensive plan for parks and the Kah Tai Lagoon
Park plan, and said agreement not to in any way obligate the City
to make any payment for lands except as may be approved and authorized
by the City CounCil.
